iYogi Scam - Scammers fake themselves, fool customers and kill organization

There are all sorts of scams floating around on the Internet. Some of them have been around since the early days of the Internet-most of these were crude attempts at extorting money from gullible users-but with the passage of time, these Internet crooks have refined their techniques into a fine art. Some of these scams are done with the help of hackers who take remote control of your computer by infecting the defense architecture.

While reading various websites I found something interesting where the protectors of computers (technicians) are being termed as scammers. This so not right not just for the consumers but also to these tech support guys. Complaints on these sites made me do bit of research on the so called “tech support scams”.

I totally agree remote tech support has been a boon to the customers. It saves times and money and the problems are resolved in shortest possible time. But the scary part is how trust worthy the cause is giving complete control to a person sitting thousands of miles away can be bit tricky. God knows what they can possibly do once they have the control, they can steal your banking details, social security numbers, etc. Reading the entire guff around this tech support  scam I came across iyogi scam, while checking how iyogi work and reading there press releases they have categorically denied any involvement in scams clearly stating iyogi scam is a hoax and iyogi is not meant for ripping off customers.

There are many Fake tech support organizations who aim at helping people at a competitive less price. Do not fall for it because of its competitive price.

Just follow some standards:

First - never ever give control of your computer to anyone unless you’re sure that the person is a legitimate representative.

Second - don’t help them with your personal information straight away.

Third - just remember there’s a big no around you always, whenever you are doing any transaction over phone or online using your credit card, bank account or social security information, always check – ask whether the line is secured or not? What kind of security measures they are taking?

Fourth - If you think you’ve been ripped off, inform your bank and the local police immediately. Don’t try any heroics yourself! Let law do its job.
Scams and scammers are getting innovative they are trying everything to fool you. The best one can do is by keeping a tab on scams happening around updating yourself and broadening your understanding of scams can be a gift.

From the Nigerian 419-the most well-known of the lot, to fraud, such as Internet dating scams, fake antivirus scams, and in one case, even something as bizarre as a fake voice scam, in which a man disguised his voice as a woman to dupe the gullible. If you receive a call from a source claiming to be a tech support in this case IYOGI or with some other name, without doing your bit of ref check don’t help them with complete details beware it might be a part of iyogi scam and the scammers will have their last laugh.

There are few simple things one can check before they decide to sign in for a service or buy a product. Make sure you ask relevant questions and get complete details. It may have happened that one time a user tried online support from iyogi but was slightly disgruntled about the services he received and posted malicious messages saying iyogi scam ripping customers. But the fact is iyogi is governed by a strict code of ethics solving technical queries of users and not ripping off unsuspecting clients! Check their website where iyogi scam alerts are helping customers save their machine and data.

  2. iYogi is a scam..i think that's not fare from their part but yes you can say that it is a mix bag here is my experience with them.....

Somewhat disjointed and you tend to get shuffled between people. May take a few days before a competent tech gets down to work. Meanwhile, they spend hours doing formula work. Run AV. Reinstall software, etc. Registry cleaners, whatever. Things you probably did yourself before calling. But they will insist on doing it again. Cut thru the accents and customs. Indians often use condecending language which you should ignore. Get elevated as soon as you can. Press for it. But then an appointment may well not be kept. They mean, I will call, provided I am not still working another issue. Don't hold your breath. But once you get to a level three, things start to move and they seem competent to handle whatever comes up. Just stay cool and stay in control, or you will be taken all over the pasture first. I still use them, but they are tough to handle.

    1. Other than a small problem with some of the "heavy" accents, I have had iyogi for 3 years and have not had a problem getting my PC fixed. One problem took 3 days to find and needed to be sent to their research techs before it could be fixed, but they did it. I am sure a local shop would have found it also, but at what expense? I am totally satisfied with iyogi and will use them as long as I have a computer of any type.

  3. I have called iyogi for support twice now, i dont think that iYogi is a scam, both times they managed to get my pc up and running again. I had an old computer with only 512 mb, so it was in trouble a lot. They were always polite, even tho a bit hard to understand, they repeated everything numerous times for me. I have no complaints with them.

  4. Let’s just say that iYogi handles things at its own pace. I had developed a problem on my computer and I approached the tech guys at iYogi to take care of the issue. I had a tough time getting my message across; the person on the other end of the line spent an inordinately long time trying to figure out the issue on my system. Sometimes it’s hard to make out what the person is saying. Despite the numerous instances of remote tech experts duping people over the Internet becoming ever more common, I do not think that iYogi is a scam. Just people trying to do a hard job as best as they can.

  5. Is there such a thing as an iYogi scam? I am a subscriber to iYogi and personally I’ve had no issues with the firm. Sure, the tech support chap can be a bit obtuse at times-I may have to explain something over and over again-but for all that, can’t say it is a scam. Rather curious this, I must confess.

  6. With the number of frauds on the rise it’s hard to know whom to trust these days. It seems to be raining scams, to put a spin on a popular British hit song! I’ve never heard of iYogi scam and don’t really care one way or the other. As long as I don’t become a victim why should I bother, innit?

  7. The web is infested with scams and fraud of all sorts-it’s a veritable minefield for the unwary, I’m tellin’ ya! One wrong move and you could find your savings vanish faster than the onset of an Ethiopian drought. Can’t say if there is any such thing as an iYogi scam. The reason is because I haven’t had any dealings with the company. So I am nobody to comment on the authenticity or absurdity of such a thing as iYogi scam.

  8. Yes, I’m well aware that the Internet is full of scams and fraud of all kinds. You never know which website may rip you off and leave you looking stupid. I’m vaguely aware of iYogi scam but don’t really know which side to take. Since I’ve personally never had dealings with the company, I choose to reserve my judgment! As long as they don’t gyp me of my cash, they’re welcome to operate and carry on with their work. It don’t amount to a hill of beans to me.

  9. I do not believe iYogi is a scam. I have taken their help a couple of times and found the technicians know their stuff. They made sure that the same problem did not recur on my PC. I know there is a lot of fraud on the net but believe me, iYogi seems as clean as can be.

  10. While I do not believe iYogi is a scam it is surprising for such a big company that they do not provide support for computer hardware issues. My system had developed some hardware problems and I approached them to fix my system, but the technician politely informed me they do not have support to resolve hardware issues. It came as a small shock, trust me!

  11. All this talk about iYogi scam is just so much poppycock. I’ve been a subscriber to this firm and have received great tech support whenever I had any issues with my computer. Yes, the accent is sometimes tough to make out but the technician has always been professional and polite even though he takes his own time in fixing things up! Apart from this, there is nothing really wrong about their services.

  12. With the Internet full of scams, one has to be very careful while surfing. While I do not believe iYogi is a scam, there are many other tech support sites that are scams but try to pass themselves off as the real thing. Just use your head, that’s all I have to say!

  13. Ya, I’ve been reading about iYogi scam but personally don’t think the company is indulging in any kind of fraud. The reason is that I had enlisted their services two years ago despite some reservations but found their services personable as well as reasonable. I have no reason to suspect any fraud is involved. It all seems clean and above board. Their technicians got my computer up and running again. I’m quite baffled when I read about iYogi scam; somehow it all seems a bit foreign to me!

The web is full of scams of all kinds. Not a day goes by when you do not hear about some new scam popping up, and ripping off some poor sucker. Is there such a thing as an iYogi scam? One of my friends took help from iYogi and said they are just fine, no better or worse than your average tech support firm. Food for thought, that…

  22. sorry folks, cant say a bad word about them.
iyogi has saved me from loss of all my data and i have subsribed to them to service 3 pc's in my home. i have called them probably 6 time times regarding issues on my pc and my wifes and my kids and it may take some time to fix but whether your connected to them by phone or online chat support, go get a coffee and let them take over your pc and fix it. besides it's not them that put the bug in my computer. that comes from my use via the net or email. there the real deal folks and they have saved me time and time again. worth every penny in my oppinion.

  23. All I can think of saying is that be careful whom you trust. Letting some remote tech support firm take control of your system is fraught with risk. I have heard of iYogi. Aren’t they the guys based in India who help you with all types of PC queries? While I don’t think iYogi is a scam (my neighbor is a subscriber), I advise you to look before you leap!

  24. Iyogi is not a scam, but there are scammers out there using the Iyogi name. Do not respond to telephone calls that say they received info from your computer and need to scan it. Go to the Dell site and call from there if you wish to contact them. The ones that call you are not legitiment.

  25. Hi All - I'm relieved to read all your experiences as I used them the other day. I found them very patient and they solved my problem. My AV found the cycbot virus and when I opened up next morning I couldn't access any browser, although I had 'internet access', any of my Office programmes or Documents and my Avast! anti-virus had disappeared completely. Nightmare! System Restore wouldn't work either. A friend found the iYogi number on the Avast! website Support box. I'm sure they wouldn't use them if it was a scam.
They took three and a half hours to deal with the problem which they started straight away. I could understand the female voice very well and she tried all sorts, very patiently to enable the remote access which was difficult, I presume, because I couldn't access a browser, then the tech came on to cure by the remote access.
The only thing he did which I wasn't happy with was that he deleted Site Advisor which he kept insisting waas an anti-virus programme, and I know it is only advisory, not AV. He warned me it was probably clashing with Avast! but I know it doesn't as I have used both for years. Anyway I re-installed it and it is fine.
I am a bit disconcerted to find that every time I open up the computer a box comes up asking if I want iYogi to make changes to my computer and that's what made me check out if it is a scam. I don't believe it is but I will try to disable that message box.
By the way, I too paid 169-99 and it was worth every penny. I would have had to pay something like that if I had taken it into a shop or get a tech to my home to sort it out.
The cost includes a year of free support. I'm very satisfied with it.

    ReplyDelete
  26. As an iYogi onsite tech, I will go ahead and say they are *not* a scam. $169.99 for a year of remote tech support is incredibly cheap, and to some people, even "simple" things like running a virus scan or defragmenting a hard drive is a big deal

  27. I have been a subscriber with iYogi for 4 years. I found them through Microsoft when I phoned them needing technical help. Microsoft gave me the iYogi number and I now have both my computers with them. This saves me time and money also iYogi has never let me down. 24 hour service with very well mannered and always will repeat or talk slower when asked technicians is a regular occurrence. iYOGI IS NOT A SCAM. I INTEND TO MAINTAIN MY ACCOUNT WITH THEM FOR AS LONG AS I HAVE A COMPUTER. It is so wrong that people are so willing to speculate without knowing the truth. It must hurt honest business such as iYogi as well as confuse people with so many scammers out there as to who to trust with their personal computer and private information. Good karma for you iYogi and thank you for your help over the years.

  28. I am currently a subscriber to Iyogi, they are NOT scammers, yes they do all the basic stuff, deleteing temp. files disc cleanup etc.
I will be renewing my subscription in April.
They are polite and if they dont know something they will tell you that they are going to get some more information on the specific subject at hand. And most of the time they will call back in a couple of days to check that everything is fine with my laptop.
Well done Iyogi, Keep it up!

  30. I was not aware of the IYOGI scam, glad to know there is one. I have been a subscriber to YOGI for more than two years and had nothing but great succes with hem. I have always found them courteous and knowledgeble about what they are doing. I have had some very complex issues and had to be transfered to another agent and the issue was fixed. I swear by YOGI and have a three years contract that even covers hardware. I have recommended several friends and they all are so happy with the service because it saves a ton of money and you don't need an appointment.

In the past some of my problems were so complex I have had to call for an in home fix. No more. It's like YOGI is behind the keyboard. I am a subscriber for life and have told them that I would do a positive testimony if necessary to shout their praise.

  31. Avast Internet Security/Antivirus uses IYogi as support for their retail subscribers. Since the free version bailed me out I signed up for a two year Internet Security package. It installed easily on my 2 XP systems but I could not get it onto my @%^&Vista laptop. Ready to give up and get a refund, I called the support line and got a sales pitch for paid service. I tried a second support number and they assured me that it was not necessary to buy their services as an Avast customer. The tech set about to install the software. After 1/2 hour I suggested that the computer had a serious problem and after all the effort I really thought it unfair to tie up a tech for a clearly corrupted system. The wonderful tech said she would get it installed if I would be patient. She worked steadily for about two hours debugging the system and reinstalling corrupted program components. I watched as she remotely restored my system using programer software to rewrite or restore my damaged system resources. I am a technically inclined end user and watched in amazement as this expert delved into the system code to identify and correct the lingering corruption. I watched in amazement restarting and logging on as needed. I know that the free version of Avast identified and stopped a several viruses but I did not realize what functions remained corrupted. IYogi's expertise was superb and the technician showed a dedication previously unseen in the tech support arena. There were some moments when communication was difficult because the English dialect is not familiar to me. The willingness to assist overcame any difficulty.

  32. Wow! reading all these reviews gives my worried mind some ease...i have hooked up with them today since my laptop was yet agian affected with another virus (Win 7) and they completely removed it. I guess i will see how the next few months go with this "3rd Party" protection plan and hope my account is all good... I have Kaspersky and i didnt kill the virus at all maybe since the technician pointed out that i still had norton and mcafee on my laptop and it was confusing it...i hguess i will just wait and see from here...

  33. I was reluctant to fork out 170 for their service- money well spent, will be on the phone with them again shortly dealing with some program issues- have spoken to them on three occassions and they have been polite and know what they are doing highly recomend

    ReplyDelete
  34. I have subscribed to IYOGI for 1 year and am very happy with their service- they encourage me to check in every month for updates to my system. My best advice is to use the messaging part of IYOGI- That way you see the name of whomever is helping you and you can see what they are saying- that really helps. If you do get a tech that takes a long time or gives you bad service, call and ask for a manager - report the name of the Tech. I've only had one person that told me I needed to scrub my PC and start over. He said to call back after I did a system backup. I did that and I got someone else when I called back who was able to fix it without scrubbing the whole system. I had checked with another online support companies, one wanted $199 a year and I could only call 3 times a year- I don't think so! I plan on renewing with IYOGI.

    ReplyDelete
  35. my experience with Iyogi:theyr polite as they say,and if there product dont work for you,the politely refund all your mony. And you cant beat that with most companys alike!

  36. What is with these iyogi guys? …..My subscription with them had expired and I have no plans to renew it, but they keep on insisting that I renew my plan. I have told them in plain words that I am done and that I can handle the part for the time being on my own, and that they add me to their DND list. Yet they call me a dozen times a week. I have had enough. I was happy with their services, as they did wonderfully well to do everything I wanted from them. But please stop this nonsense. If I think I need your services I will myself will let you people know. And, sometimes I even get calls that give me the impression that they are part of a scam, like the iyogi scam. I am only guessing……….. I expect iyogi to do something in this regard as well.

  37. I have been reading articles and learned that there are people who are trying to disguise themselves as iyogi technicians with ulterior motives. I use iyogi services, and this type of scam really freaks me out. If someone tomorrow calls me and indentifies himself as an iyogi technician and wants to take remote access of my system, how do I know whether he is not part of the iyogi scam?........ Is it only me or there are others who are equally concerned??

    ReplyDelete
  38. I have not read all of the post but I am a former iyogi customer. And I decided to not continue with them basically because I wasnot sure if i was going to purchase a new computer at that time. So I tried to explain to the rep that was trying to get me to renew with. However, I told him that I would not be renewing at this time. The rep got angry and hung up on me and by the next day I had a virus on my computer. It took about 30 minutes for it to come on and even worst now. I called to explain and complain about it. They told me that they would fix it. I spoke to numerous people then nothing. Ans one of the rep's asked me was my computer on when I was talking to the iyogi rep's and when I said yes. He got quiet. So I would never use them again with their good good karma. HIghly upset

  39. iyogi has already stopped those kinda malpractices. you can go ahead and give the access to the technicians without any tense in your mind. To confirm if they are Iyogi technicians just give your email address and ask them to pull up your records. Then and there itself you can justify if he/she is the one that you are looking for. Does that help?

  42. that is absolutely true. there are people specially the competitors who are trying to defame iyogi by creating and posting all kind of negative notions about iyogi. I have read so many comments on different websites when people from iyogi are trying to contact these customers but they hardly get any reply. Most of negative comments are fake and are just there to defame iyogi. iyogi was never a scam just a VICTIM...

    ReplyDelete
  43. Ya right.. I have seen this happeningh with other companies as well. companies like iyogi become victim rather than a scammer and get a bad name. There are similar scams happening with Dell & Microsoft as well where people call-up innocent people claiming to be microsoft and the customers end up paying money for false claims. The best way is to stay alert and verify if the company is legitimate.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Very true. the bigger th ebrand the bigger is the threat. scammers pretend to be from legitimate companies like dell, iyogi, microsoft etc and then they fool these customers and take money. Both the companies as well as the customers are at risk due to this. there should be some law to check this out.

  45. Yes. i have been a victim myself. be careful when you get a call from such a company. Normally big companies wont call consumers but if they do you should always verify to see if teh company is legitimate or a scam

Yes, some of my acquaintances had mentioned of iYogi service, and also shared that they had challenges in connecting through toll-free number, communicating and understanding jargons that technicians throw up at times. But, they never actually installed any bug on their PCs or dissolved after payment in the smoke. But its quite enlightening that people are cashing in iYogi’s repute and spreading iYogi scam. Thanks dude!

  47. Its been two years since I have availed tech support by iyogi. And believe me they are not fake, they provide genuine support to resolve PC issues. I am happy to have them by my side during my technical blues. The experts are extremely polite; even though they take time to fix the problem.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Like Ghigley, iyogi expert took a lot of time to resolve my computer problem. It was annoying to wait. That is why a lot of computers users think iyogi is a scam. But let me make it very clear, iyogi is not a scam and the tech support they provided me has resolved my computer error. They are a bit slow though.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I called iyogi to take back up of the data stored on my laptop. The guy at iyogi helped me save a copy of the data. The best part is that the expert asked my preference on which I wanted to take back up. They are extremely convenient. I hope they do a bit of work on their accent too.

  50. iYogi does tech support for Computer Associates. I had no problem with the tech support - but somewhere in all those reboots they installed malware in my Google Chrome so that *all my searches* are now redirected through their servers. I find iYogi to be both competent and highly unethical, and would recommend using them only as a very last resort (and be prepared to uninstall / reinstall whatever browsers they infect.)

    ReplyDelete
  51. You name any PC problem and iyogi experts can resolve it in a very professional manner. This is what I noticed. I have taken their services three times and I never got disappointed. I just told them about the issue and they put in their best efforts to resolve it. The waiting time this time was long though. Overall amazing work!

  52. My PC was infected with a spyware. A problem that I had never imagined can occur on my laptop too, but somehow it did. And I am thankful to iyogi experts who calmed me down and told me that it can be easily resolved. You guys did it. Surely you are full of talent.

  53. What bothers me most is the slow performance of my laptop. And to always keep in best working condition I called iyogi. Their service is pretty impressive. I have their annual subscription under which I call them anytime to fix any issue I get on my laptop. However, sometimes they get really slow.

  54. With so many scams running online, one cant just rely on iyogi blindly. The moment an iyogi technician asks for your permission to take remote session of your PC to resolve the tech problem, you become more suspicious. But your trust in iyogi starts getting stronger the moment the tech expert starts explaining each and every step before performing it on your PC. Not a single step is taken without your consent. Every step is performed in front of your eyes. I myself being a customer of iYogi can say that iyogi can be relied upon to get fixed technical problems without any doubt.

I just dialled the toll-free number of iyogi and asked for tech assistance to help me replace my faulty optical drive. The technician checked it to be a hardware problem and forwarded my call to their onground techie. I am happy with their service. If iyogi would be a scam, they would have made an issue of this and forced me to buy their subscription.

  57. The web world is very strange place. You can find all sort of people here. Some offer free goodies to fool you, and some entice you with their sweet words to sell you their services. It was around one year ago, when I approached iyogi to get resolved a technical issue. The technician on the other side was too polite and he even tried to sell annual subscription of their services. But I politely declined. Getting the message clearly, he helped me get rid of the error. Now whenever I face any tech issue, i contact iyogi. Till date they have helped me get rid of issues. I think now i should take their paid subscription.

Whether it is fighting a malicious virus, or cleaning up registry, or installing new software, they have always helped me out. I, however, want to put forward one point. I will appreciate if only one technician handles the entire session. Lat time 5 different technicians handled my query. It was like too many dentists trying to work on a single tooth.

But if someone is trying to play with iyogi’s brand name by scamming people, I can’t say much.

  60. Once by mistake I opened a mail from an anonymous sender. I don’t know how, but from that very moment my friends started receiving indecent mails from my name. some of them replied back very badly. but later on they understood that someone has got access to mail box and is sending mails on my behalf. It was only after I changed my password and security settings that I could stop the scammer.

  61. This review was a complete eye opener. I never knew about iyogi scam. Every day we end up facing a new kind of a scam. It’s very bad and can ruin company’s hard-earned reputation. It’s a good initiative by iyogi to make people aware about a scam that’s running on their name. It will help people judge between the good and the bad.

  62. iyogi provided me great tech support and helped me get my laptop up and running again. I know nothing about computer problems. The technician who attended my call was very patient and walked me through the entire process. By no means I think or believe that iyogi is a scam. They helped me fix my computer problem. They did an awesome job! Thank you iyogi!

  63. Good tips!!! I will definitely follow them to protect my online identity… browsing internet and doing online shopping is becoming risky day by day… iyogi scam is a new thing in the market… people fooling others on the name of tech support… sad to know that…

  64. I am a fresh victim of iyogi scam.. One of my chat friends gave me a number of iyogi.. I called at that number and a technician who answered my call took $180.99 from me and asked me to wait for a technician to give me a call back… when even after two days I did not receive any call from the other side, I tried to check the authenticity on the Internet.. it was then that I got to know that I was duped in iyogi scam.. on calling iyogi from the number given on their site, I got to know that I had been scammed and the number does not belong to the company… I’m screwed…

  65. Iyogi technicians gave perfect tech support and deleted all the malware from my PC. My browser was getting redirected and my files were infected with a virus… the technician patiently scanned my entire system and removed all the detected infections… he also installed an upgraded version of AVG on my PC… now my machine is working just the way I want…

  66. I recommend scam detector app to everyone… I have one on my phone and it helps me a lot. Also I want to thank iyogi for putting information on latest scams and frauds. It helps me gain information… this keeps me warned about latest scams.. good job iyogi!

  67. Wow! Nice post.. I accidentally banged into it… but good that I read it, instead of moving ahead with my search… though I have never used any remote tech support company, I’ve heard of it quite often.. but I was definitely not knowing about fake tech support services… Good gracious! They exist too… I’ll be very careful next time I think of using one…

  68. I was calling Mcafee, but don’t know how I got connected to a technician who said he’s from iyogi… he asked me to allow him fix the antivirus on my PC… but somehow I was not able to trust him.. he had a really bad accent and bad grammar. I hung up on him… I am quite sure he was a fraudster…

  69. Recently FTC has banned several tech support companies that tricked customers to pay for the removal of bogus viruses and non-existing spyware… I was not aware about this scam until I read the FTC article and this one.. I feel iYogi is doing a great job by spreading awareness…

  70. I liked this post by iyogi scam alerts… I was aware of scams that run on the name of tech support companies, but didn’t know that the scammers even use iYogi’s name to scam people… And thanks Shinobi for letting me know about scam detector app… I too will get this one on my phone... hope it works for me as well.

  71. I have heard about iyogi scam. In fact, scams run on the name of all popular tech support companies. Scammers have found it an easy way to earn money. Guys, let us understand one thing, any good tech support company will not spoil its brand name for a few hundred dollars. This is the work of scammers who want nothing but easy cash.

  72. I got a call from a lady who told me that she’s from a tech support company. She was offering me free computer scan. She said it will detect all possible viruses and malware. But my computer was running perfectly fine. So I told her that I don’t need the scan. But she kept insisting. This made me doubt her intentions. Why was she being so pushy? I just hung the phone… Now I after reading iYogi scam alert I think maybe it was a scam…

iYogi Scam??? Phew! I just knew credit card scams, Nigerian scams, online dating scam and of course, I know iYogi personally as I have been using their service for a year. Thank god, I didn’t have to get swindled rather, got solutions for issues faced across various devices PC, iPod, tablets, home theaters etc., from iYogi.

  74. Even I have read FTC report. All the companies that have been banned were not very popular. I have never heard their names. I think it is important to know a company when you think of doing business with them. As far as iYogi is concerned, it is really popular in my office. Lots of people have used their services. So at least for all of us, iYogi is not a scam. I for sure recommend it to all my friends.

  75. I too got a call from someone who posed to be a technician from Dell. But since I do not own a Dell machine, I felt it was phishy. Why will a Dell technician be interested in repairing an Acer machine? I did not respond to his call and hung up on him. Later my friend told that the call might be a scam. Thank god I did not let him access my computer.

  76. My friend got scammed by a technician who posed to be from Dell. On the pretext of running a virus scan, he installed a nasty virus that helped him access his computer and steal her details. But when she contacted Dell, they told him that no one from their company had called her up. Instead this is the work of scammers who are fooling people using Dell’s brand name. I feel iYogi scam is also similar to this. Guys please beware. This is very scary!

  77. I have experienced iYogi technical support. iYogi is not a scam. I called them to get my screen issue fixed. The technician told me that iyogi only supports software issues. Hence, I need to take my PC to a technician. He did not charge me for his consultation. Had it been a scam, the technician would have ripped me off my money. I like them for their genuineness.

  78. I have heard of these kinds of scams that revolve around tech support companies. I am sure iYogi scam is also one of these. These nasty scams are the work of con artists who pose as tech support guys. All they want is to rob people off their money. But in turn they spoil reputation of the companies and make them look like losers.

  79. The best thing about iyogi which make me believe that iyogi is not running a scam to dupe its customers or common people is that they never ask for their customers' confidential data such as banking details, computer passwords, etc. I am accessing their tech support services for the last 6 months and they have never at any point made me suspect them with their activities or deeds. Whatever action is performed by iyogi experts is done in a very transparent manner and that with our consent. So, once again i can very strongly say that iyogi is not a scam.

Hey thanks a ton iYogi for making us aware of evil online scams that are devised to rip us off. My uncle has been using your remote tech support service but, he never complained of technicians asking any intrusive questions or any cold call these people made. However, they surely reverted once when my uncle complained about one iYogi technician.

  81. Online scams are mushrooming across the World Wide Web; and this is the reason I keep myself off those lottery stuff, free iPad and balance transfer lures. I try to tread cautiously and crosscheck offers, products and services. So I did before subscribing with iYogi and I have been using their tech support for six months. Though sometimes a little bit pushy in installing some antivirus, iYogi is not a scam.

  82. While looking for a reliable remote tech support service offering company I came across many such so-called remote tech support companies. However, on contacting them I came to know that most of them do not know their job well. There website too just shows content lifted from other sites. In short, they not only speak like unprofessionals but also look like unprofessionals. One should research a lot before opting for the services of any one.

  83. While surfing the Internet or checking your inbox, not a single day passes when you do not come across a scam in one form or the another. In other words, the Internet world is full of scams of all sorts. The scammers keep on devising new methods to dupe common people. However, i have never heard or read about iyogi scam anywhere. Is there any such scam named iYogi scam? One of my friends who was in not my knowledge has been a customer of iyogi online tech support services for the last one and half years. When he asked him about his experience with iyogi. He was all praises about it. I doubt that iyogi guys are scammers.

  84. I completely agree with those guys who say that iyogi is not a scam. I am not a customer of their tech support services, but once I accessed their tech support services when I was unable to play some recently purchased high graphic PC games on my machine. On asking about the specifications of my system, the technician very politely explained me about the problem and suggested to upgrade the RAM, hard disk space, and graphic card of my Windows 7 powered system. I purchased the required hardware and got it installed with the help of iyogi onsite support. Now i have no problems playing high graphic games on my pc. Thanks iyogi for the help!

  85. Thank you for putting up such informative post. Though I have never used iyogi tech support, I have heard its name often from friends and colleagues. They all praise iYogi’s instant and 24 hr tech support. It’s bad that some people are trying to defame its image. Such articles really help to generate awareness among the mass…

  86. No doubt that the Internet world is full of malicious programs created by scammers to dupe you of your hard-earned money. The best way to avoid falling in their trap is to be a bit smart and use common sense. I have come across many tech support providing companies, but i do not think iyogi is a scam. It's a team of professionals who are damn serious about their business.

  87. Looks like there’s a never ending stream of scams in the world wide web. There are so many that now I can write a book on ‘top 100 internet scams’. But I seriously want to thank iYogi for putting information about latest scams through their scam alerts. This helps me know about all the latest scams so that I can protect me and my family from them…

  88. I was not aware of anything like this. Thank you iYogi for posting such useful article. It’s really bad to know that some people are trying to harm the image of genuine companies. Moreover, they are scamming innocent users and creating confusion in their mind about what’s genuine and what’s fake.

  89. It's but natural that when you are dealing with technical things, errors might recurr. But this does not means that the technician had not done his job properly at the first instance. I being a customer of iyogi tech support services for the last 2 years too have faced problems after taking their support services, but this does not mean that iyogi is a scam company. They are not duping others, but they are helping us get rid of our tech woes. Therefore, in my opinion iyogi is not a fraud company. They are experts in their field and know their job well.

  90. No doubt it is the act of scamsters who are presenting themselves as iyogi representatives and duping them of their hard-earned money. I have been accessing the tech support services of iyogi for the past one and half years. During this period i have never felt that their main objective is to make money by hook and crook. I am glad that I selected iyogi tech support services and not any other. I am very delighted to know that iyogi is governed by a strict code of ethics while solving technical queries of users and not ripping off unsuspecting clients.

Is this really true? Is iYogi a scam or a target of scammers who try to dupe people by using company names? My aunt Laura is using iYogi’s remote tech support service for past six months. Had she experienced or sensed any duplicity, malware attacks post remote session or dubious remote activities, she would have cancelled her subscription, for sure.

  92. iYogi has become a soft target of scammers. These scammers often target popular companies because fooling people using their name is way easier. I have heard scams on the name of companies like Dell and Microsoft. I think the only way to protect ourselves is by being aware of all these ongoing scams…

    ReplyDelete
  93. I have utilized iyogi services several time and everytime I have got fast and expert solutions to all my problem. Having dealt with the company personally, I can confidently vouch that iyogi is not a scam but a genuine service provider…

  94. My laptop quit working, I contacted Iyougi they ran a scan over the phone told me my harddrive went bad. They said for a one time charge of $139.99 they would have Dell send me a new harddrive and when i received it to call them back and they would send a tech out to install it for me. This was in November 2012, it is Jan 2,2013 I still have not received my new harddrive. Now they are saying my account has expired. Iyougi is a scam, they take your money tell you lies and do nothing to help you.

  95. This is completely unbelievable. Though I myself have not yet subscribed to iYogi yet, but I checked with my uncle Peter who is a loyal subscriber of iYogi for last one year. My uncle keeps bragging about competence of technicians of iYogi and of course, their technical proficiency. One day as I mentioned of iYogi scam, he cleared my confusion that these iYogi scam is not true at all.

  96. It’s tough to ignore scams these days. There is a great possibility of becoming a victim of different scams prevailing online. However, when it comes to trusting iyogi, I can do that blindly. The company provided ultimate tech support for my computer. At a very less price I got great services. Really great karma!

  97. Recently I was reading a feature on a website that has warned about emerging of group of scammers who con people by the name of repairing computer problems. I have also read posts at iYogi Scam Alerts on how to identify such groups and websites. It is really scary that these people can rob your personal details, credit card details, social security number and other sensitive information. But, I can tell that iYogi is not a scam, they are very friendly tech support experts!

  98. I too vouch for iYogi as this company is not a scam. The company works dedicatedly to help its customers. Though I have not used iyogi services, my brother is their customer and I have many times seen iYogi technicians assisting him remotely to solve his computer issues. We have always liked and enjoyed the technical sessions with iYogis…

  99. I am an avid reader of this blog. It helps me stay up to date with all the latest scam news. However, I would like to bring some clarity on this scam news. I have been the subscriber of iYogi services since 3 years. They follow very strict security policies and the technicians are not allowed to ask the account details of any customer. I don’t think iYogi is behind these scams. Indeed, someone is trying to bank upon iYogi’s success or ruin their hard-earned fame.
